Petrone Square

History of Piazzetta Petrone

Piazzetta Petrone is not just an enchanting corner of the historic center of Vieste, but it is also a place steeped in history and tradition. This white square, once the heart of the Petrone family's family life until 1948, is today an evocative "balcony" overlooking the Mediterranean. Its transformation began tragically following an earthquake that caused injuries and subsequent collapses in a building, subsequently leading to the demolition of some dilapidated houses nearby. From these ruins a wonderful terrace was born which offers a breathtaking view of the southern coast of Vieste, a true natural spectacle that embraces the long Castle beach and reaches the Testa del Gargano.

A Dream Panorama

Immersed in the historic heart of Vieste, Piazzetta Petrone is an unmissable stop for those visiting the old village. The view you can enjoy from here is simply unforgettable. Your eyes can range from the vastness of the sea, getting lost in its emerald green, to capturing the beauty of the Scialara or Pizzomunno beach, dominated by the unmistakable limestone giant. It is a place that enchants at any time of the day, but it is at sunset that it reveals all its charm, when the sky turns red and the atmosphere becomes magical.

Piazzetta Petrone and its appeal for Instagrammers

In the era of social media, Piazzetta Petrone, together with the adjacent small square between Via San Giorgio and Via Bacco, has earned a place of honor among the most "Instagrammable" places in Vieste. Its unique beauty and the panorama it offers make it a perfect setting for evocative photographs. Here, photography enthusiasts and Instagrammers find a real treasure: from daytime photos that capture the brightness of the sea to evening images that contain all the romance of the sunset, each shot is a testimony to the magic of this place.

A corner of peace in the historic heart of Vieste

Piazzetta Petrone is located on the southern side of the historic center of Vieste, in the upper area, an area that in the past was favored by wealthier families precisely because of its privileged position. Today, this picturesque corner offers visitors and residents a charming escape from the daily grind. It is a place where time seems to slow down, allowing you to fully savor the beauty of the landscape and the peaceful atmosphere that characterizes it.
