TurismoVieste.it was founded in 2012 by Diego Romano, who, after having gained work and academic experience in the cultural, tourism and communication fields, decided to start a project to help people discover Vieste and the Gargano.
The objective was not to create a simple advertising database of accommodation facilities, but rather a real guide that also enhanced the culture and lesser-known places of the area, offering an authentic and direct point of view of those who, despite having grown up in a large metropolis, has loved and lived the Gargano since birth.
The project has always been oriented towards promoting conscious tourism, aiming for non-invasive, useful and privacy-respecting advertising, avoiding the use of public funding and costs for taxpayers. Over the years, TurismoVieste.it has recorded constant growth: from 2020 to 2023, it exceeded one million annual visits to the main site, positioning itself among the most visited tourist sites in Italy according to specialized software analyses.
The main site was joined by social media pages, which totaled more than 5 million views in 2023, and an English-language version, which recorded 700.000 visits in the same year. Furthermore, from 2013 to 2017, the site was also supported by an app for iOS, Android and Windows Phone.
Since 2020, TurismoVieste.it has also organized the survey "Vieste and its guests“, an in-depth study on tourism in the area which involved over 5000 people during its 4 editions.
