Vieste is an ideal destination for those seeking relaxation and golden sandy beaches. The beaches are generally sandy and shallow, excellent for those wishing to enjoy the sea on a family holiday.
Almost all the beaches around Vieste are wide and deep and it will therefore be easy to find a place that suits your needs. On these beaches the crowding and confusion, typical of other seaside resorts, are rarely a problem. The closest beaches to the town center and within walking distance are the San Lorenzo beach (on the north side in the direction of Peschici) and the Skiing, also known as “of the castle” (on the southern slope towards Mattinata). Continuing south we find beautiful and wilder beaches, while to the north the coast is gentler and shallow. For those wishing to experience the thrill of a swim in the historic centre, they can still do so at alla ripa, Or Small Marina.
In addition to the beaches, the Old Town, rich in culture and history, deserves interest. Among the intricate and characteristic streets we find the cathedral, with its beautiful bell tower that stands guard over the city. In this area there is also the Frederick castle, from which it is possible to admire the Pizzomunno, limestone monolith, symbol of the city of Vieste, on the Scialara beach.

The verdant coast of the Gargano, one of the most beautiful in the world, offers to the most attentive and curious gaze natural arches, such as that of San Felice, and splendid natural cathedrals, le sea caves. The coast is interspersed with white cliffs that offer unexpected cultural scenarios: i Trabucchi and Coastal Towers, witnesses of a past in which the sea represented, even more than today, a source of opportunity and danger. The trebuchets, very ancient wooden fishing tools, are widespread above all along the stretch of coast that goes from Vieste a Peschici. The watchtowers, built along the entire coast in the XNUMXth century, represented a fundamental means of defense against the frequent attacks of Saracen pirates. Nature lovers will be happy to enjoy the rural landscape, with centuries-old olive trees and Mediterranean scrub, and it won't be difficult to come across animals in a semi-wild state grazing a few meters from the sea.
For lovers of greenery, an excursion in the countryside is truly unmissable Umbrian forest, 10.000 hectares of untouched flora and fauna which also lend themselves to trekking and mountain biking.

For those wishing to explore the other villages of the Gargano, excursions are recommended Peschici (only 20 km), Rhodes Garganico, Vico del Gargano, but also the beautiful pilgrimage destinations Monte Sant'Angelo e San Giovanni Rotondo

These are some of the places to visit and the experiences that Vieste offers to its visitors, an invitation not to be missed…
