Improved connections between the Apulian airports and the rest of Europe

Spring 2020 heralds new flights for Brindisi Casale airport and for that of Bari Palese, with better connections to Poland, Luxembourg and Austria. While the hope of all Italians is that the emergency caused by the coronavirus will end quickly and that we can resume traveling without problems, for fun or even just for work reasons, the Apulian airports are opening up to new routes. As early as April, for example, the section between Brindisi and Vienna thanks to Laudamotion, a carrier controlled by the low cost Ryanair: well, a line with 4 flights a week will start up until the end of the summer season.

International expansion

Meanwhile, in a few weeks Luxair it will double the connections with Puglia: it will be possible to travel to Luxembourg not only from Bari, but also from Brindisi. On the other hand, the strategic planning document of Aeroporti di Puglia is clear, in the sense that the goal we intend to achieve is that of a significant expansion of the international network, as also indicated by the Puglia 365 Plan by Pugliapromozione: an expansion that aims to make the tourism system of the whole region grow through the opening of new markets and the need to adapt to seasonal adjustments.

The section between Brindisi and Luxembourg

Being able to count on Luxembourg among the connected destinations is an absolute novelty for Brindisi airport: the flight will take place once a week, on Sundays, and complements the Luxair offer which already offers flights to Bari. At the time itself, Brindisi in turn becomes more and more international, with a more complete and richer offer. From Airports of Puglia it should be noted that both tourists and large numbers will take advantage of the route Apulian emigrants living in Luxembourg: this is a very large community that has long been calling for better connections between the Grand Duchy and their region of origin.

From Bari to Poland

Another important novelty for the Apulian airports is represented by the section which, starting next June, will connect Bari Palese with Gdansk, in Poland. The airport of the regional capital will allow you to reach Gdnask airport, where, next to hotels and offices, a connection with the metropolitan railway has been created, from which both commercial entrepreneurs and tourists benefit. The carrier that will make this route possible is Wizz Air: Flights will operate twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays. The Polish market, in the words of the president of Aeroporti di Puglia Tiziano Onesti, is proving to be more and more interesting year after year for Apulian tourism.

Brindisi airport numbers

Those of the last few years, on the other hand, have been really positive numbers for the Brindisi airport: just think that between the month of August 2018 and the month of August 2019 a growth of 10% was recorded. It is no coincidence, therefore, that starting from next May 23 the frequencies with London Heathrow thank you British Airways. The British capital can be reached thanks to the 4 weekly flights scheduled, operating on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and at the weekend. The network is becoming more and more international: more next summer the Salento Airport will welcome numerous stars of the world jet-set in anticipation of the Dior fashion show scheduled in Lecce.

A look at the United States

Also from May, Brindisi will also be connected with New York and with Boston: direct flights, with a technical stopover in Dublin, at a cost of 259 euros for those who choose the economy fare or 899 euros for those who opt for the business. The flights will operate until September twice a week.
