With over 1 million and 500 thousand presences and almost 250 thousand arrivals, also in 2020 Vieste is first, with a wide gap, in the regional ranking by number of tourist presences. From the publication of the official data collected by the regional agency, we discover that the Gargano town has also reached first place in terms of arrivals, overtaking Bari which held the record in 2019.

As already declared to the newspaper L'Attacco, reading the official data confirms what was perceived during the last tourist season.
During 2020 in the area there was a drop in tourist presences of 20, 30% (Vieste -20%), clearly attributable to the Covid19 emergency. Above all, the restrictions on travel in the spring and the drop in the presence of foreigners, practically halved, weighed heavily. Despite this, having a tourist offer based above all on a type of seaside and proximity tourism, made up of medium-long stays in non-hotel structures such as residences and tourist villages, concentrated in the months of July and August (when in 2020 the pandemic seemed to have appeased), the Gargano has managed to hold up better than other Apulian realities which, having a less seasonal tourism and more oriented to a foreign market than that of the Gargano, have had drops of almost 50%. Considering that the high season period, which went well, has a decisive impact on the turnover of hospitality businesses, the glass can be seen as half full. This year things seem to be going a little better and there is a desire to "catch up" leaving 2020 behind.
