Vieste, Tremiti Islands, Rhodes Garganico e Peschici, are once again confirmed among the top locations for the quality of the beaches and services, having received the prestigious Blue Flag also for the year 2024. This recognition is a real seal of quality that is assigned by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) to those localities which not only have excellent bathing water, but which are actively engaged in the sustainable management of their territory.
Excellent results for Puglia and Gargano
In the regional distribution of Blue Flags for 2024, Liguria remains stable with 34 locations despite the new entries of Borgio Verezzi and Recco and the loss of two flags. Puglia shows notable growth, reaching 24 recognitions thanks to the addition of three new municipalities: Lecce, Manduria and Patù, although Margherita di Savoia was not reconfirmed this year.
The other Apulian locations confirmed with the Blue Flag include Zapponeta, Bisceglie, Polignano a Mare, Monopoli, Fasano, Ostuni, Carovigno, Melendugno, Castro, Salve, Ugento, Gallipoli, Nardò, Maruggio, Leporano, Castellaneta and Ginosa and the aforementioned new entries Lecce, Manduria and Patù. Each of these locations is an example of excellence in terms of clean water, services offered to bathers, accessibility and environmental sustainability.
Campania and Calabria follow with 20 Blue Flags each, having both earned additional recognition for Cellole and Parghelia, respectively. The Marche increase their tally to 19 thanks to the entry of Porto Sant'Elpidio. Instead, Tuscany sees a slight decline, dropping to 18 awarded locations following the loss of recognition for Marciana Marina.
