Vieste with children – ideas and suggestions

Vieste is an ideal destination for families with children, especially for the large beaches with shallow and clean sea, for the uncontaminated nature and the charm of the medieval village.

The largest beaches are those of the Pizzomunno, the first in the south of the country, that of San Lorenzo, the first to the north, e Scialmarino, 5 kilometers north, towards Peschici, full of equipped bathing beaches.
These beaches have very shallow waters and entertainment activities often take place, with music and games.

These areas are full of campsites and specialized tourist villages perfect for holidays with children, such as the Baia della Tufara village and Oasis village, on the beach of Scialmarino, and the Camping Village del Sole & del Turco, along the Pizzomunno coast.

On the beaches of San Lorenzo and Pizzomunno there are also 2 playgrounds with inflatables, ideal for entertaining children with physical activity during an evening stroll towards the centre, which is completely pedestrianised.

The medieval historic center, full of suggestive views, small shops and narrow alleys will leave an excellent impression on the little ones.

"Old ViesteHowever, it is full of stairs and therefore visits with a stroller are not exactly optimal. From the upper district, where the cathedral is, we recommend taking Via Vesta: after a few steps downhill, you will find Piazza del Seggio and then Via Mafrolla, without stairs.

The center is full of pizzerias by the slice, which also offer paposce and panzerotti, the favorites of many children.
To enjoy an ice cream we find the villa in the main square and that of Marina Piccola, a magnificent setting where the city's events are held, often dedicated to the little ones, with music and street artists.

sea caves of vieste
Also worth seeing with the little ones are the sea caves with the motorboats that depart daily from the port of Vieste. An excursion of about 3 hours awaits you along the beautiful and wild south coast of the city, which can be admired comfortably by boat.

A must for city kids Umbra Forest, Unesco heritage, with imposing trees and dense vegetation.
Here you will also find an artificial lake, home to carp, catfish and turtles, which can be visited with a very comfortable walkway accessible to pushchairs; a short distance away we find the area reserved for fallow deer and the Giocabosco, a playground made entirely of wood.
