Boat trip to discover Puglia: the emotions of Salento

Puglia in recent years has seen the number of tourists grow year after year. A land rich in traditions, culture, natural paradises and enchanting cities can only restore wonderful memories to anyone who spends some time there.
This Region is the easternmost of the Italian peninsula, is called "the heel of Italy" and has a very important feature for those who love the sea: it has 865 kilometers of coastline.
With these assumptions it goes without saying that a boat cruise in Puglia can become a beautiful and long adventure full of emotions.
If you have limited vacation days and a great desire to sail between the Adriatic and Ionian Seas, you need to carefully choose the places to visit.
In this short article we will see three of the most beautiful places to see in Salento.

We set sail from Gallipoli for our boat trip.

Before going to sea from Gallipoli, it is strongly recommended to spend at least a couple of days in this splendid seaside town that combines nightlife, beautiful beaches and historic places.
Those who want to party find their natural habitat here. The beaches are worthy of those of the Romagna Riviera where aperitifs are enlivened by lots of music and dancing on the sunbeds with cocktails in hand.
Even in the evening the entertainment continues and concerts can be seen at Parco Gondar, a place where great names of national and international music pass.
If you are not so worldly and party-loving, it is sufficient to take a walk in the historic center to pass the time in a pleasant way between clubs and monumental beauties such as the Angioino Castle, which extends towards the sea, and the Greek Fountain, which has a facade of the '500 and one from the '700.
If you are looking for a little relaxation, you can choose from many coasts: Spiaggia della Purità right inside the city, Padula Bianca, Lido Conchiglie, Baia Verde, Punta della Suina, Punta Pizzo, just to name a few.
After 2 or 3 days spent in Gallipoli you can take the boat and start the sea journey. If you don't have a boat, you can take advantage of the internet and go to a specialized site for rent a boat in Puglia. The best advice is to book well in advance if the holiday is in the summer months.

Let's head to Leuca by furrowing the Ionian.

Proceeding by boat from Gallipoli towards Leuca you will be enchanted by the colors of the waters and the coast. The temptation to make several stops comes, but if the holidays are not for a month it is better to continue and reach this place in Italy where the Ionian and the Adriatic ideally meet.
The coast of Santa Maria di Leuca is full of coves and caves that leave you breathless, such as the Grotta del Diavolo or the Grotta del Lago.
Going down to the ground you can admire marvels such as the Sanctuary of Santa Maria di Leuca and the stairway of almost 300 steps that leads to the fountain of the Aqueduct.
The beaches here too, as in the rest of Salento, continue to be of shocking beauty. Already as you arrive in Leuca, you skirt the coasts that have been defined as "The Maldives of Salento", those of Pescoluse, but also proceeding into the Adriatic, the clear sand and cliffs offer a thousand small places to stop and sunbathe in all calm.

We arrive in Otranto to finish the holiday in style.

The Porta d'Oriente, as Otranto was called, is a city full of culture that can also be visited in a single day, but 24 hours are too few if you also want to relax and take a dip.
You must not miss the opportunity to admire the imposing Cathedral and the Aragonese Castle.
Natural paradises abound here too, such as the beach of Torre del Serpe, Punta San Nicola, Baia dei Turchi, the Alimini lakes, Torre Sant'Andrea, Torre dell'Orso.
These three stages in Salento are very few if you think of the hundreds of wonderful places that this area encloses between the sea and the hinterland, but in a week-long boat trip, little more, it is necessary to select the most precious jewels.

Sea, villages and cathedrals, there are so many places to see in Puglia, do it in the best way.
