The Oil Week returns from Monday 29 August to Friday 2 September 2022 for its sixth edition with a sea of events to discover the green gold of Vieste, in the enchanting scenery of the bay of Marina Piccola in Vieste, together with other suggestive locations scattered throughout the city.
Organized by the Municipality of Vieste, desired and promoted byDepartment of Agriculture, under the patronage of Puglia Region, Gargano National Park and GAL Gargano, the Olive Oil Week has been a reality for five years thanks to Sabrina Pupillo, food technologist and professional olive oil taster.
The Oil Week will be the protagonist of the late summer days with taste and well-being experiences linked to the main product of the agri-food production of the area, to discover the realities of excellence, but also the natural landscapes and the beauties of the pearl of the Gargano.
As with the 2021 edition, there is also a 2022 edition rich program and new and original ways of living an exhibition entirely dedicated toextra virgin olive oil.
Representatives of the agricultural and productive world, of institutions, but also nutritionists, chefs, sommeliers, tasters and simple enthusiasts will meet in five days of events in the name of protecting and enhancing an area where one of the major Italian productions is concentrated.
With an olive grove area of over 1300 hectares and one average annual production of 1 million liters of extra virgin olive oilIndeed, Vieste ranks among the most important olive-growing realities in the Mediterranean.
It will be an opportunity for discussion, study and training with sector operators from all over Italy, but also an opportunity for producers to tell their stories and let the public know all the secrets of production oil. And that's not all: yoga in the olive grove, trekking, fishing experiences, aperitifs and concerts among the centuries-old olive trees, appointments in the oil mill and oil-centric activities for children will be just some of the many initiatives that will enliven the beating heart of the Gargano.
