The Mergoli-Vignanotica Nature Trail, also known as the Love Trail, is one of the most panoramic and evocative routes in the Gargano. This path extends between two of the most enchanting beaches in the region: the Vignanotica Bay and the Mergoli Bay, also known as Zagare Bay.
Located in the municipality of Mattinata, in the province of Foggia, access to the path is located on the SP53 coastal road, between Vieste and Mattinata. The trailhead is visible on a bend and has little parking nearby.

The route, approximately 3 km long, is characterized by an old mule track surrounded by a wooden fence. After a few meters, a splendid glimpse opens onto the Zagare Bay, famous for its stacks, the scissors and the Arch of Diomede. It is possible to park the car directly at the entrance to the path, where there is space for a few cars, or in larger car parks located a few hundred meters towards Mattinata. For those who wish to visit the beach of Vignanotica without following the path, there are paid car parks near the bay, from which it is possible to go down via a staircase or use a shuttle.
Useful advice for the path of Love
The path is unpaved and has sections with stones and stones, therefore it is recommended to wear suitable shoes. In the summer months, toilets and refreshment points are available in the Bay of Vignanotica. For a safe and pleasant experience, it is preferable to use sneakers.
