From 21 to 25 July 2026 it returns to Vieste The Possible Book, one of the most anticipated cultural events of the Puglia summer. For the fifth consecutive year, the festival arrives in the pearl of the Gargano, transforming the city's squares and corners into places of encounter, discussion, and entertainment.
The 2026 edition celebrates the twenty-fifth anniversary of the festival with the theme “Speech to Humanity”, a title that will accompany meetings with writers, magistrates, journalists, scientists, and leading figures in contemporary culture. Over 300 national and international guests will be coming to Vieste, confirming the city's role as a cultural hub for the Italian summer.
Among the announced names are Roberto Saviano, Maurizio de Giovanni, Gianrico Carofiglio, Stefania Auci, Nicola Gratteri, Marta Cartabia, and Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi. The grand finale will be a talk and acoustic performance by Ditonellapiaga.
Marina Piccola, the heart of the festival
The festival events will take place in the suggestive setting of Marina Piccola, one of Vieste's most picturesque corners. Overlooking the sea and at the foot of the historic center, Marina Piccola becomes a particularly charming spot on summer evenings, with its harbor lights, whitewashed alleys, and glimpses of the old town.
During Libro Possibile, this space will transform into a large open-air cultural lounge, where the public and guests can meet for literary presentations, debates, and live performances.
Those who visit Vieste during the festival will be able to stroll between the tourist port and the Old Town, experiencing the typical atmosphere of Gargano summer evenings.
The Possible Book and the cultural summer in Gargano
The festival is one of the most important events of the Apulian summer and helps strengthen the bond between tourism and culture. During the festival, Vieste welcomes visitors from all over Italy who choose the Gargano for evenings dedicated to books, music, and current affairs.
Since 2023, the festival has also hosted a stage entirely in English, further expanding the event's international reach. This move has strengthened the presence of foreign audiences and Vieste's image as a cultural and tourist destination.
The Municipality of Vieste supports the festival, confirming its desire to promote the city not only as a seaside destination, but also as a meeting place and cultural hub.
What to see in Vieste during the festival
Those who come to Vieste for Libro Possibile can take advantage of the opportunity to discover some of the town's most characteristic sights. The historic center still retains the charm of the ancient Gargano seaside towns, with narrow alleys, stone arches, and terraces overlooking the Adriatic.
One of the symbols of the city is the famous Pizzomunno, the white monolith linked to the legend of Cristalda and Pizzomunno, which over the years has become one of the most photographed places on the Gargano coast.
Also visit Castello Svevo, built in a dominant position over the city, and the Cathedral of Vieste, testimony to the long medieval history of the village.
All festival events are free to attend. The full program will be available on the festival's official channels.
