Saturday 13 May will be a great day of sport in the Gargano and in Vieste: the caravan of the 100th tour of Italy is arriving.
The Centenary Tour will make its 8th stage here, after having touched other places in Puglia, such as Alberobello.
The departure is in Molfetta, towards Manfredonia. The first ascent, quite difficult, is the one for Monte Sant'Angelo, where there will be the first Grand Prix of the Mountain. After the descent to Mattinata, cyclists will find themselves on one of the most beautiful coast roads in the world, in the direction of Vieste, passing through Punta Santa Tecla, another Mountain Grand Prix.
In Vieste, passing by the famous Pizzomunno beach, you will arrive in the enchanting location of the Marina Piccola, there will be the flying finish line (TV), where the runners will be able to obtain precious bonuses. Continue along Punta Santa Croce, with a view of the lighthouse, taking the coast road to Peschici, skirting the beautiful beaches between Vieste and Peschici, such as that of Scialmarino.
The final kilometers are quite demanding, where cyclists will have to face short climbs and hairpin bends with gradients of around 10%.
Expected arrival a Peschici, a delightful village overlooking the sea, where the tour already stopped in 2000, 2006 and 2008. The Giro caravan will then leave again for the Abruzzo region.
You can follow the Giro on TV from 13.05pm to 14pm on Rai Sport+ HD and from 45pm on Rai 14.
