Airbnb chooses Casa Vacanze La Banchina in Vieste to represent the Italian seaside off-season.

Vieste continues to confirm its position as one of Italy's most popular seaside destinations. This is also demonstrated by the latest report published by Airbnb, dedicated to new Italian holiday trends, which chose Holiday House La Banchina as a symbolic accommodation for Vieste and Italy to illustrate the phenomenon of the deseasonalization of seaside tourism.

This choice represents an important recognition both for the facility and for the entire city, which is increasingly appreciated even beyond the months of July and August.

Goodbye to the August myth: the sea is enjoyed in September.

According to a survey commissioned by Airbnb, more than 6 out of 10 Italians no longer choose August as their primary vacation season. Several factors are driving this shift: the desire to avoid the most intense heat, find less crowded beaches, be more affordable, and enjoy greater flexibility in organizing their vacations.

The seaside remains the favorite destination for nearly one in two Italians, but the desire to experience it in the months of September and October is increasingly growing, when temperatures are still pleasant and the area can be explored at a more relaxed pace.

Vieste leads the growth of off-season tourism

Of all the seaside destinations analyzed by Airbnb, Vieste is the one with one of the most significant results. Searches on the platform for group stays are approximately three times higher than in the same period in 2025, a figure that confirms the growing interest in the pearl of the Gargano even after the summer peak.

The allure of its long beaches, sea caves, trabucchi, Pizzomunno, and historic center make Vieste an ideal destination even in the late summer months, when the sea still maintains pleasant temperatures and the city returns to a more tranquil pace.

La Banchina Holiday Home chosen as a symbol of Vieste

To represent Vieste in its report, Airbnb has chosen Holiday House La Banchina, a residence overlooking the Bay of Marina Piccola, a few steps from the historic center and the embarkation point for excursions to the sea caves.

The report describes it as a house that retains the architectural features of the village's historic homes, with typical 19th-century cross vaults and a small sea-view balcony offering views of the harbor, the lighthouse, and the Church of San Francesco. Its central location makes it easy to reach the beaches, stroll through the narrow streets of the historic center, and experience Vieste without a car.

Being included among the properties selected by Airbnb to represent one of the key destinations of summer 2026 is an important recognition for the property and a testament to the value of Vieste hospitality.

Confirmation of the deseasonalization of the Gargano

For years, many Vieste entrepreneurs have chosen to focus on seasonality, promoting an area that can be enjoyed well beyond the month of August. September and October still offer long days, pleasant sea, boat trips, and trekking in the Umbra Forest, walks in the historic center and the opportunity to enjoy less crowded beaches.

The data released by Airbnb seems to confirm this very trend: the desire for the sea doesn't change, but the moment in which we experience it has. And the fact that Vieste has been chosen as a symbolic destination for this new way of traveling is further confirmation of the city's increasingly central role in the Italian tourism landscape.
